i did "the secrets of the atari lynx" back in 1994.it was a code and help

book to "many" lynx games of the past.i did it under the pen name of the

game veteran in those days.i was rather proud of it,too! it had many game

secrets to games i've not seen posted before or since! i found a bunch of

stuff myself and with the help of others also.i've checked sites on lynx

codes and tricks and found none of the things i had.sure, some stuff is a

bit common on all sites and i had that too in my book.other stuff that i had,

no.not at all.some games i found 6 or 7 hidden things in.if i look at a lynx

code listing(then or now) i may see 1 or 2 things listed for the same game.

i had some unusual lynx tricks in my book.too bad, that it never saw a very

big release back in 1994.oh well. :( --the lynxer of lynxland

p.s.

a couple of others did similar efforts back

in the 90's that were pretty good too.seeing

that the mags and stuff had tricks helped me

to dig deeper in my lynx games for tricks!thanks

guys, for giving me the inspiration to find my tricks. :D

Yes, it would be great if Greg can finish that book. I submitted several reviews to it a while back, but haven't heard much about it since. I think we should all let him know that we're still interested in seeing that book become a reality!

i could post some stuff for you folks,i guess.what game?no, the war does

not limit me in doing it.hmmmm, isn't that comment you posted a little over

the top?what does the war have to do with that?i only stated that consum-

er spending is way down in the u.s.(europe too,i'm told.elsewhere??) and

that expending game release capital is not really warranted now to the

tune of $3000-5000 u.s. dollars per game.is it? there are no retail lynx

sales happening now,at all.14 weeks at last count on my record tablet with

no lynx or other atari unit game sales.sounds like prime time for big, big,

big game release budget spending, don't you think?i know you guys would

surely lay out $3000 or 5000 of your own money like that at the drop of a

hat,wouldn't you?well,wouldn't you?hmmmm,i thought so.see? :|

let me know what game you want a code to and see what i can dig up out

of my large file of them.i'll help a bit.i won't be a typing fiend about it for

you all, though. :) --the lynxer of lynxland

I'd wager there's a big enough community to support the project but it needs, um, more forceful leadership. Perhaps rather than asking people to come to you, you should hand out small assignments.

This would also help because we don't know what reviews you already have. (Of course if the reviews are short enough, maybe multiple reviews of the same game would be helpful.)

I did a couple of reviews for Le Geek, you can ask him if you can use them. I'm also open to an assignment, anything that's not a sports game or A.P.B. (for some reason I could never get the hang of that game). I have pretty much everything at my disposal, including almost all of the protos and homebrews.

Also perhaps you could ask the Al's for permission to use some of the material here.

Finally, I'd probably not bother with the $0.50 - $4.00 rewards for writing, save the money to put into publishing. While I'm sure there are people here who could use a little money, it would probably better be spent on things other than labor.

Well, the project was started long before AA had this many users let alone a Lynx section. Back in "the old days" it was harder to find Lynx fans since even the newsgroup was dried up. Still, I find it inconsiderate to "cold call" someone asking them to help out with something. That's akin to spam.

Rather, those that are interested in helping out with the project can email me, send me a message here at AA, or respond to this thread. Once we have a group interested in working on it, we can go from there.

One nice thing in a Lynx-book would be to tell how to reach the easter-eggs and cheats found in games + the level codes.

Any things that reduce the joy of doing discoveries could be printed as hints. Like:

Question 1:

I cannot beat the level 1 in Championship Rally.

Hint1:

Have you tried to use the ghost car in Time Trial to find the best driving route?

Hint2:

Have you tried to take a short-cut?

Question 2:

I still cannot drive well enough to unlock track 4.

Spoiler 1:

Press keys A+B+Opt1+Opt2 while singing "For he's a jolly good fellow" to unlock track 4. (just an example. This probably won't work.)
