Abel M'Vada
Demon Attack is a boring Phoenix clone. How could you think such a thing about a game with silver-painted toy dinosaurs on the box? Silver-painted toy dinosaurs WITH WINGS! IN SPACE!! Meanwhile, I've ever so slightly improved my score (at a game with exactly ZERO space dinosaurs in it). karokoenig
Berzerk (Game 3): 24,910. End of the line for me. I have no idea how you guys avoid getting grilled repeatedly the very nanosecond you enter a new screen... This game was the only one with a decent score. All other games ended miserably in the 4-5k range.

Nukey Shay
1. When the maze starts to close when you exit, starts the timer, for the counter to check to see if you are moving or not for the attract mode. 2. Every 4 1/4 seconds, the game does a check to see if you are moving. If you are moving, it triggers a counter. 3. The counter varies on when you hit reset on the game. To get the max counter, you play game one, and hold reset essentially when you turn on the Atari. Clarification: Two counters are reset when you initially powerup the console: The frame counter and the attract mode timer. The frame counter is updated 60 times per second (50 for PAL)...rolling to zero after 255. At those specific frames when rolling over during a game, the attract mode timer is updated only if: a)you are not moving the character, and b)you have the opportunity TO move the character (i.e. time spent dying or moving between screens does not increase the attract timer). It's important to note that inputting an "impossible" direction such as up and down simultaneously would count as "moving"...so use a hacked cord with wires twisted together if you need to use the toilet. Neither counter is specifically reset to zero by the program at any time...they just roll from 255 to zero. You can ONLY be sure that the attract timer is zero for the first 255 frames when powering up...make your game selection quick (moving the stick has no effect during game select). Beginning a game will increase the attract timer +1 from whatever value it currently holds. When the attract timer rolls over to zero during a game, the game will end immediately. This can also happen if your reserve life counter reaches 128...so be sure to kill 'em off regularly.

Sneakyturtleegg
I appreciate that the great players are sharing their secrets about Berzerk, but I'm not comprehending the timer thing. Maybe another time I'll try to figure that out. I got my score the old fashioned way, just by using my slow reflexes and some standard Atari pattern recognition. I'm done with this game for a while. Whats next?

Sneakyturtleegg
S. Baz, you need to deduct some points for that dusty Atari!! Bonus points for cleaning it! Keilbaca, you get some bonus points for using that sweet Commodore monitor!! I haven't seen any IFART console stacking violations since week 1 by Northcoastgamer, so we're good in that department for now.
Nukey Shay
I appreciate that the great players are sharing their secrets about Berzerk, but I'm not comprehending the timer thing. As mentioned, it's not really that big of an issue unless you are going for a marathon run. You should always toggle the power switch before beginning / selecting a new game, however...it's the only time you know that the attract timer will be a low value. Its current value is carried over from game to game if you don't power down between 'em - which means that a successive game could end pretty much at any time.
Sneakyturtleegg
Thanks Nukey Shay. I get it now - Duh. I will mess around with it the next time I put some time into Berzerk. I may have had a low value when I got my personal high score, because I did feel like I was in a rythm.
