Atari-Jess
Well, It seems that the Vector site is gone now, (no need to post url since its gone.) It doesn't look like anyone has been working on it especially not the guy who started it. No one seems to care about it No one even mentions it (that I know of) anymore Even the source code isn't floating around Ohh its all so depressing... If only I could really teach myself 6502 asm... Ive been trying to but its not going well
Sikor
Yes, Vector page now is outed. Atari area change server (for atariarea.histeria.pl), but now Fox do not doing anything more for vector
Heaven/TQA
but of course we have the engine source code as it's used in our m'demo "numen"... heaven/taquart
Shawn Jefferson
I realize that Fox may want to retain control of Vector, but if he really is giving up on producing a real game with it... I wish he would release the source code/engine and some brief instructions on making levels. Release it under any license he wishes and hopefully someone will pick it up and create a couple of levels for it.
andylama
Forgive my abject ignorance, but what is/was Vector? I'm intrigued, but totally out of the loop. TIA Andy
Atari-Jess
Vector is a 3d doom/duke3d like engine for the Atari 8bit in the numen demo you required 320kb of RAM (i may be wrong) but vector was designed to entirely be used on only 64kb of RAM (i also may be wrong on that)
Goochman
So to connect the c64 thread with this one.......... Would vector be possible on the C64 as well or is the XL line better at handling this type of graphics? Just curious
Heaven/TQA
fox has no time to dev vectors further and he has released all relevant tools but noone contributed reg. levels etc... and he will not make "customer support" as he is full with work. i try to dig into my mail account if i find useful informations. hve
Goochman
Where were the relevent tools released to? I dont think I saw a post here about that. I saw an offer asking people for help which didnt seem to be taken up on.
Godzilla
I miss vector too. I tried unsuccessfully to get it going here myself, earlier. http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.p...ighlight=vector

+Sauron
Where are all of the tools if they've been released? I just watched the Numen demo for the first time, and I thought it was incredibly impressive. I'd do whatever I could to help, even though my programming skills are minimal (working on that, though ).
Godzilla
I've never seen anything related to vector released anywhere, so I dont quite know what they are talking about...

Heaven/TQA
as fox has written... the engine itself could run on c64, etc... even he mentioned 5200 (which i am not sure... ) the >128k is just needed for the demo as all effects etc are run out of the banks... hve
Godzilla
are the tools/source & etc out there somewhere? if the thing really uses dukes level editor, why is making a game with it such a problem?? we cant let such an awesome game engine for the a8bit just die, can we?
