ATARI Box Restoration (Silver Era: 1982->1984)

Hello everyone,

I had a bad moment last Thursday when a careless handyman dropped some Silver era boxes on the floor.

The Atari 1030 box, the Touch Tablet box and, especially, the hard to find Add-A-Pak / Arcade Champ box (KX-7102) all fell on hardwood floor

(The Arcade Champ box can be seen on Rhod's Web Site: http://www.rhod.fr/pages/the-arcade-champ.html )

The box in question (Arcade Champ) was previously pristine and, now it's slightly damaged (especially the corners).

Has anyone ever come up with a method for restoring those gorgeous silver era boxes?

I was thinking of using duct tape from the inside to recapture the open corners but, for the worn out sections, all I can think of for now would be to actually recreate the whole box in photoshop and print it from there.

(pictures below)

Thanks.

It will never be perfect again... but you can use block and clamp with humidity and slight heat to flatten and stiffen the box a again... it's a forever process... and it will not be perfectly strong again... you will still see the imperfection just not as bad... the tear can never be removed that I know of.

Technically, anything can be restored, like is done by museum curators all the time restoring ancient documents or art, but it certainly can never be considered mint condition again on the open market, and whether it's worth it all for something that isn't quite main-stream museum material yet, if ever. ;)
