atari-dna Posted March 15, 2018 Share Posted March 15, 2018 Yep, that is C13 and C14, two of the components that are mentioned to replace along with Q4 for no sound in one of the steps on page 87 of the PDF. Totally agree with the polystyrene capacitors. They may be the culprit. If you can press gently on them while operating the unit (lightly with your index finger) and sound cuts in and out then they are at fault. Plus there is an adjustable ferrite core that needs to be properly tuned for the audio carrier frequency, a simple adjustment. Check these items first before doing anything more complex. Try turning the core (located inside the tube) GENTLY with an adjustment tool (or a couple of toothpicks). Be careful, this is a fragile component.
