Tempest
Does anyone know what kind of rubber the Atari joysticks used? Is it some form of latex?

If you mean the rubber joystick boot of the CX-40, Best Electronics already has them in stock and NOS

He is looking for what they are made of, just as he asked.
jaybird3rd
According to Brad's impressive write-up, the early (up to 1982) Atari CX-40 boots were soft, lightly-textured silicone, and Atari later replaced them with cheaper, harder rubber with a smooth surface and sharper edges. For Best's newly-manufactured boots, they went back to the silicone. I have some of their new boots, and they really are an improvement; they don't seem to attract as much dust, and my hands don't seem to sweat as easily while using them.

+RichG1972
Why because someone was asking about rubbers for their joystick?

It's likely he was asking to see if he could go about making them himself because he MAY not be aware that they are readily available from Best, just an idea

Tempest
What kind of things should I be looking for? I imagine most things I think are rubber are really silicone like those chicklet keyboards on the cheaper systems, but I'd like to be sure.
