S.BAZ
...and then there may be random appearances like me sometimes. Even though I play all year round. but this is it for me so far this week: Roc'n Rope (Colecovision): 10 min. question on the rules: the 2000 deadline is just for when the system came out, right? Meaning for example, games released after 2000 for N64 would be acceptable? I'm always amazed with this thread! It's great!
karokoenig
question on the rules: the 2000 deadline is just for when the system came out, right? Meaning for example, games released after 2000 for N64 would be acceptable? Release date of the system. Otherwise, AA homebrews or modern C64 releases etc. wouldn't count either. We can't have that :-) Also: welcome!

Kurt_Woloch
Here are my times for this past week (May 13th through 19th)... Arcade: Gauntlet - 21 min. Galaxian - 2 min. Super Qix - 85 min. in 3 sessions Pang 81 min. in 4 sessions Bank Panic - 25 min. Pac-Mania - 38 min. Non-eligible: Rubik's Cube - 29 min. This time, again, I played some different arcade games... Gauntlet was one single game in which I got pretty far... but Galaxian fell noticeably short from that. In Super Qix, I made quite a few rounds. In Pac-Mania, this time around I got the hang of it a bit. In Bank Panic, I achieved my goal of 100,000 points. I also solved Rubik's Cube for a few times with a top time of about 4-5 minutes. +thegoldenband
My times for the week: TRS-80 Model I/III: Attack of the TRS-80 - 6 min. ICBM - 25 min. Quest for the Key of Nightshade - 185 min. NES: Batsu & Terii - 12 min. Bio Force Ape (ProgrammingAce fake demo) - 3 min. Rush ’n Attack - 164 min. FDS: All Night Nippon Super Mario Bros. - 10 min. Finally beat Rush 'n Attack. Then I messed around with some TRS-80 Model I/III type-in games, including old nemesis Quest for the Key of Nightshade [aka Quest for the Key of Night Shade]. BTW the Bio Force Ape demo time is for a tiny, Action 52-esque game that was put together as a joke or a hoax, I don't know which, sometime prior to the release of the real Bio Force Ape ROM. It's only a few screens worth of very simplistic action and music, and then it ends.
karokoenig
Atari 2600 Infiltrate: 23 min Toyshop Trouble: 20 min Played these for the bronze medal in the High Score Club. It was a busy week in real life, and I hardly had any time to play and get decent scores. At the moment, however, I am more concerned about my opponent than about my scores. Jin, how are you doing?

Apparently I had serious bout of hypoglycemia (which I had no idea I even had before this) where my blood sugar was down in the 50's for a couple days and it caused some nerve damage in my hands and feet. The nerves should mostly recover with time and I can at least hold a controller and play games again now, but definitely not on any serious competitive level. I spent a good bit of time this past week working on retraining my hands with some old favorites (Doom and Virtua Racing Deluxe on the 32X) and I'm noticing an improvement in my fine motor coordination already, and I'm also testing my blood sugar before and after every meal now to make sure it doesn't go out of whack again. I was pretty bummed out that this all happened during the Atari 2600 HSC finals, so there was no way I could have competed for the Bronze medal title this season, but major congratulations to karokoenig on his win and hopefully by next season my hands will be in good shape to compete again!

Blood sugar levels do weird freakin' things to people. My wife is type 1 diabetic and I'm hypoglycemic so there's a good match. She *hates* insulin and BS checks but it's part of the game. Glad to hear that you got a diagnosis and that stuff looks like it'll be working out- we'll be thinking of you!
karokoenig
Well, I have to admit the final round was a little anticlimactic for me. I definetly would have preferred to fight for that bronze medal in order to feel more like I really deserve it. Also, I think it would have been a fun competition. Had you been at the top of your game, I think I would have had a very very (very!) hard time winning this. But first and foremost, I am glad to hear you are recovering!

oyamafamily
I want to tell the participants in this topic my greatest news: my 2 cartridges arrived safely in my house last Monday - Pac-Man Collection (7800) and Squish 'Em (2600). Both items I picked up in the AtariAge Store using my $50 Gift Certificate - after the ending of 2600 NEW HSC Season 8 / regular rounds, I was drawn to win this prize. I tested both cartridges on my 7800 ProSystem console, had much more fun, used an Edladdin Super 78 controller and made notes on my paper (scores and variations used on 7800 Pac-Man Collection). TO JIN: Good luck on the Losers Paper Medal Tournament Finals. We hope you get better soon and do your best in this 2600 NEW HSC Season 8 event.
