SoundGammon
I was wondering when a sound chip, like the pokey on the cart, can it be used for more than making music? Or can it be used for doing sound effects for the game?
+-^CrossBow^-
I'm not a programmer but the answer is yes. Commando only uses the Pokey for background music, while the TIA handles the percussion and sound effects I believe. However, Ballblazer is all Pokey only so it handles both the music and sound in that game.
Shawn
It can be used for many things. Including bankswitching which it is also used for on Commando. The POKEY is a pretty versatile chip for what it is and when it was made.
