Martin72
I've download some ROM files (for example the romfile of the Activision game HERO) from Atariamania.com. With the RespeQT software I add these ROM files to an DOS 2.5 ATR file. I put this file to a SD card and put this card in my SD2SIO module. At the (at startup OPTION-key) DOS menu at the Atari 800XL I select option L and then I get the message: BAD FILE. Can someone explain what I'm doing wrong or can someone tell me how to use these Game ROM files with my Atari 800XL? Sikor
ROM files are for Cartridge only. For SIO you must search for ATR or XEX files (ATR - disk image, XEX - single files, some of its working with DOS)
_The Doctor__
rom are for emulation, or avg/ultimate/sic cart rom simulating carts or for burning into (e)proms you do not run them from dos without some decent modification...
+Philsan
Would not it be easier to simply use XEX (and ATR for games not available in XEX format) found here http://www.mushca.com/f/atari/index.php?idx=A
Martin72
Thank you all for the answers, also Philsan for the link where I can find the XEX files with the games I am searching for.
hueyjones70
Are the files on this link XEX files?

XEX files are merely executable files on the Atari. Like .COM, .EXE files. Named XEX so they do not conflict on the PC so they can have a file association to launch in emulators.
