MAME Atari 800 Joystick Mapping

Hello,

Running MAME 0.207 on MAC OSX10.13 & 10.14

I have 2 original Atari joysticks and hooked them up using the mayflash MegaDrive USB adapter.

Anyone know how to map joystick inputs for the Atari800?

i can map the joysticks in most games by pressing the TAB key and using the MAME 'Input-This Machine' Menu

But this option is not available while running the Atari 800

(Since the TAB key is used by the emulator as a keyboard TAB!)

Setting the General Inputs has no effect.

Any ideas?

Press 'Scroll Lock' key first to toggle from full to partial keyboard emulation mode.

Then try 'Tab' again.

MAME's Atari 8-bit emulation overall does not fair too well, unfortunately.

For the MAC, you may have a better experience with an Atari800 SDL version download.

Hi Trebor,

Thanks for the advice.

I hadn't seen the partial emulation setting before, so I've got the joysticks working with my MAME Atari800 now.

FYI: On the MAC there is no 'Scoll Lock' key

But the 'DEL' key works (full keyboard), or on a laptop its 'FN' + 'delete'

You mention the Atari800 SDL, I've not tried compiling this on the MAC yet.

Will do when I get time to figure it out...

Unless you know of any binaries available?

Atari800MACx 5.0.1 works well for me since the sound was fixed.

But there is a conflict with my mayflash controller adapter so I can't use the joysticks with it.
