Izen
Hi everyone, I believe I may need a new diode on the power board of my Game Gear. There was goo between the inductor and the diode, D3 above. No red LED when I turn it on. I found the diode to be Hitachi HRF22. What would a comparable diode be to this as HRF22 is discontinued? Thanks for your help! emerson
The datasheet for that diode can be found here: https://www.datasheets360.com/pdf/836881638174107424 I boiled down some of the diode characteristics in the mouser parts filter here: https://www.mouser.com/Semiconductors/Discrete-Semiconductors/Diodes-Rectifiers/Schottky-Diodes-Rectifiers/_/N-ax1mj?P=1z0z7ptZ1yuoc79Z1yuoahu&Rl=ax1mjZgjdhq5Z1yuoc7qZ1ypakalSGgjdhqdZ1yuoc7iZ1ypakakSGgjdhq6Z1yuoc49Z1yuo5zpSGT&Ns=Pricing|0 I'll let you double check my filters and compare the remaining characteristics of the HRF22 to the search results. Thank you! I'm still learning how to do the comparisons. Was stuck with Digikey. It looks like the first one is similar, correct?
emerson
The reverse leakage current is less than the original and the physical dimensions seem to match. No promises but from what I can tell it's worth a try.

emerson
Besides the values I entered into the mouser filter I'm looking at the reverse current and physical dimensions of the replacement part candidate, but there may be some details I'm overlooking. I would guess that as long as your reverse current is less than or equal to the HRF22's and the dimensions are within tolerance you should be okay (along with the filtered data of course). You can always buy a few and test them all if you're unsure. Be sure to photograph the bad diode before removing it from the game gear so you know its orientation. Let us know how it all works out. Izen
Yeah, I didn't convert the measurements, so I was confused when I looked at it. Thanks for your help!
