6BQ5
I'm looking for a very, very simple ASCII text editor for tweaking small configuration files like our desktop info file. What is today's editor of choice? Right now I am using STeno. It's a desktop accessory that seems to work well but I think it conflicts with many games. Thanks! vattari
If you don’t need it to be resident, I recommend Qed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
atarian1
I never used a text editor accessory (or anything/desk accessory on the GEM desktop) while playing games since most games bypass GEM. I am curious to know which games do you play that even allows you to use the GEM desktop?
6BQ5
I never used a text editor accessory (or anything/desk accessory on the GEM desktop) while playing games since most games bypass GEM. I am curious to know which games do you play that even allows you to use the GEM desktop? The games don’t necessarily use the GEM desktop but I do boot to it. From there I launch the game. Along the way to booting up TOS loads GEM along with all the desktop accessories. STeno is very convenient if you’re not gaming. I’ll give QED a try. If it’s small, fast loading, and simple enough then I’ll map it to a hot key.

I've used Everest for modifying my BBS files for... well... since the 90's. Unfortunately, I was never able to get a registered copy, so I have that nag screen. +DarkLord
I think that for most BBS software a good editor would be essential. I know I use BBS Express! ST v1.98a and it relies heavily on script files. It has a decent internal editor included but is limited in how many lines can be loaded at once. I've got multiple scripts that exceed that limit so I'd be lost without a good editor.
