blackbox
BITD About the time Millers Graphics produced their EXPLORER program there was a fuss about TexComp producing a DIFFERENT program called The Explorer. Is there a dsk image of it anywhere? The file loaded from the disk was (I think) helpfully named EDITOR... not many of those around. Anyone have it in their collection? Anyone actually buy it or use it? Thanks Edited July 19, 2019 by blackbox add the text (I have trouble with this site!!)

Interesting- I didn't catch this one as an FG99 bin file- possibly I was confused by MG Explorer- or is this its first appearance? If so- Omega- needs to be in the list please! As Explorer (TexComp) or Explorer (Isani)... Many thanks. Tarik Isani- it couldn't be the Qualcomm Tarik Isani could it? regards

+Ksarul
I'm not sure, but I may actually have the manual for this somewhere. I do remember this program from BITD (and the confusion).
+FALCOR4
That brings back some memories. I was at Craig's place in San Dimas when he received the letter to, "cease and desist" using the name Explorer for our new product since as it had been copyrighted (or applied for, I don't exactly remember) by Jerry. That was an interesting day as everything was printed to go to market....and, that is when the "Explorer" became the "MG Explorer." The rest is history. Confusion between the two products was common at the time.

Omega-TI
That name "Tarik Isani " has gotten through my fading memory. I seem to remember a video game written by him? Was it an Asteroids clone or something?
Omega-TI
Nevermind found it: I have to leave now but when I get hope I'll send it over to the TI for 'testing'.
sparkdrummer
He wrote BOA ALLEY - console basic game that appeared in 99'er. Probably one of my all time favorite CB games.
blackbox
Tarik Isani- I MAY have the wrong person but I don't think so.... as far as I can tell there is just one Tarik Isani who in 1983 would have been about 15 - right area. Lived in California at the time. Apart from a handful of TI programs he also wrote for the Amiga. He has developed an emulator in Linux for the DEC PRO 350. He has a number of patents, five assigned to Ubicam, one for Qualcomm, one for Intel, one for Silicon Graphics. His current job is "Principal Engineer" for the SEC with a patent dealing with regulatory security. wow. Always interesting to see how early TI users have gone on.....
