RasterScan
Hey all. I recently acquired a 1040 STe. The top half of the the enclosure was damaged badly in shipping; the bottom half survived with a few repairable cracks. I did patch up the top case. My question is, would you continue repairing the top case and paint the enclosure or just source out a replacement top half. I’ll include a few photos. I always disliked the idea of painting cases. Also, the ABS is very brittle. This is another reason I’m apprehensive about painting the case. Thanks! towmater
Paint might help it hold together a little longer, it's probably worth a try since you'd dispose of it in any case (no pun.) Perhaps avoid garish colors.

RasterScan
Thanks! I did see that video. I think I will paint it Stone Gray and call it a day.
Ute
I saw an ST on ebay that had been Hydro dipped with Carbon Fiber, it looked ok. Something like this, except on an ST case and without the high gloss:

Ute
You can try the extreme fix in the video above if you have the means. You can fix small cracks with Acetone, it melts the plastic back together. But it's also easy to accidentally drip it on parts your not gluing and damage them or make it look funny. Sounds like it may be to brittle? B&C sells ST cases, but you have to email Bruce and talk to him directly. Last time I talked with him they were around $40 USD Edited August 8, 2019 by Ute Additional info.

I patched it up as much as I can. i glued it up and painted it. Now I’m waiting for the paint to dry. I would still like to find an enclosure. I’m afraid to even move this one. Thanks everyone!
