doctor_x
Greetings.. I am a collector of all things underground for the various 8 bit platforms - mainly wardialers, long distance code scanners, tone boxes, etc that were used back in the day (80's) by hackers and phreakers... There is a huge amount of this software for commodore, apple and even Atari and Tandy - but I've yet to stumble across anything written for the TI994a written for this purpose. Just figured I would throw a hook out and see if anyone recalls any software like this for the TI machine.. Maybe knows of a name that I could use to search by or at least add to the "wanted list", etc... If anyone cares to see my work (in progress for sure) you can do so at http://wardialers.org ... Thanks for any help ..

Omega-TI
I remember having a war dialer for my TI back the mid 80's, as a matter of fact it's how I found a few of the local BBS's, and other services like extra TELENET dial-in numbers. Now days though, I would never even contemplate using one. I gotta admit though, it was kind of cool coming back from work at the end of the day and having a list on the printer of every phone number in town that answered with a modem.
+9640News
Yes, there was a wardialer, commercial software. I do not remember the name however and I have not seen it in my remaining collection. Beery
Omega-TI
IIRC the version I used was written in TI Extended BASIC. The only reason I remember that is because I modified the output format for my printer.

wierd_w
these days you would hit more fax machines than you would bbs modems. Interesting to see how they used the AT command set return values to determine if a carrier picked up though.
sparkdrummer
This dsk has quite a few phreakin' programs and text files SMRT_UTILS.DSK
HOME AUTOMATION
Hi, I'm looking for: TEXAS TELEPHONES(S). Home Computing Weekly Magazine Issue 049. But I don't care to type it in!
+9640News
Seems like Micropendium had an advertisement. Would have been in the mid 80’s.
S1500
This is fascinating. I didn't use wardialers(Tone Loc) until I had a DOS system. With that being said, any guidance on that TI SMRT_UTILS.DSK? I'm not having much luck getting anything to run. My E/A skills are a bit rusty. Which file's the wardialer program? HOME AUTOMATION
I had a little luck on Classic99 using RXB 2012. I loaded the disk in drive1... OLD DSK1.LOAD/SU When I tried option 4 Classic99 disappeared. 1

+arcadeshopper
First off classic99 has no rs232You should use Fred Kaals emu as it does support rs232 Sent from my LM-G820 using Tapatalk
doctor_x
old thread - but I don't think anything on that disk is a wardialer. "disassembler" just sounds like a program disassembler...
+9640News
There is a War Dialer out there somewhere as I used to have a copy, as well as Micropendium advertised one back in the 80's. Beery
