Can anyone help me modify my atari to use it on my TV??

I bougth an atari 2600 with 1 joystick 1 game (E.T.) , the original ac adaptor and the rca cable. All that for 2 bucks at the salvation army. I tried to modify it as described on this site (I'm not sure I did it the right way) but only the sound works 100%, the video looks like when you're watching pay tv without paying. By the way I aint no expert in electronics so write clearly. Please make my two bucks worth it! Thanx

Well sorry for the bad news, but that mod (developed by Cracknell) doesn't really work well, if it works at all. You may have it hooked up right but your atari can't drive the 75 ohms clean enough for your TV to be happy with it.

 

Basically, the more complex a video mod you do, the better the results. This site

Using one of the above listed Coax adaptors and the following A/B switch found at Radio Shack for $6.99 works fantastically. Better than the old switch box that originally came with the unit.

Total cost is under $10 for both parts at Radio Shack.
