815 Family Together

Here is something I do not think anyone has seen before! 4 815's together.

The one, third from the left, is the one I "found" with a friend at a e-recycler. The others are the other friend who repaired mine to working condition. The one on the right, I assume, is a work in progress, as I have seen the missing parts at his place.

This would be a lot of storage one could connect to a single 800. Well I think you could connect 4 815's an 800?

Very Cool

     A lot could be done with that if you could address each drive from Drive A to H.

This way each drive could stand alone from each other. Still very cool.

I love those type of drives since they were the first drives for the Atari 800

Wow. Amazing! I don't know, hook the three working (?) units in serial to see if that works.  What I do know is all those 815 LEDs could work several solar powered calculators at the same time.

When the first 815's in tandem were tested at Atari dev labs, all that power went to their heads. "We got power!"

 

Those 815's had a few more LEDs. To reduce costs, later unit LED counts were lowered to what we see now.

I have labels for Drive 1 - Drive 8 somewhere. I got them from Best years ago.
