MichaelJMcKernan
Okay, I just got an old Atari 2600 system. It's all black. Has the four switches on the top part of the console. It says Video Computer System above where the cartridges go. It also has no power supply. Where could I get a power supply and what is this system called? I've heard Darth Vader systems bantered around, but don't really know what that is? Also, I need some joysticks that are compatible. Because this is actually the first 2600 I've ever owned. Thanks, Michael
Brad2600
It's a VCS....or 2600. You've got that right. For power supplies, you could try the following: www.4jays.com Or try EBay. You can usually get a cheap power supply off of EBay if you're willing to look. Controllers can also be found there as well. That's all I know so far. JB
I've heard Darth Vader systems bantered around, but don't really know what that is? Vader is the nickname for a VCS/2600 with a black front as opposed to a woodgrain one. The Vaders were the first units to be sold as 2600s instead of Video Computer Systems. Also, I need some joysticks that are compatible. Assuming you can't find some real joysticks(Atari sticks aren't exactly hard to find), a Genesis gamepad will work just fine. Though there isn't an option for the paddles, you'll have to find actual Atari paddle controllers. Because this is actually the first 2600 I've ever owned. Welcome to the joys of gaming on the legendary Atari VCS.
MichaelJMcKernan
Thanks Tigger. Talk about quick service. I'll call Radio Shack tomorrow. You wouldn't happen to have a similiarly easy answer about Joysticks would you?

Raijin Z
Not to mention Radio Shack charges about 800% of what an item is worth.
BSS
Though there isn't an option for the paddles, you'll have to find actual Atari paddle controllers. Actually C64 paddles work too. I think they're more durable as well.
