video adapter for LED display

Hi all!  I will be receiving a 1040STfm this week and wanted to ask how to connect it to my desktop LG LED monitor that has an HDMI and a D Sub connector.  Eventually I plan to get an Atari color monitor (any suggestions?) as well as various upgrades to the system as I can afford.  Thanks!

There are plenty of threads in this forum about diverse adapters, which convert Atari RGB output to HDMI or VGA. HDMI is for sure better, and it can convert the sound too. Prices are not so good (for buyers) - there are some cheaper solutions, but then usually quality is not so good. Will need cable with proper connectors too, like 13 pin DIN - Scart connector, or what goes to specific adapter.

If you are in Europe maybe better solution is to get some new, smaller TV, with Scart input. Price of it can be even lower than adapter's price. And pic. quality is very good, at least by brand TVs.

Getting working original Atari monitor is now really hard. Shipping may cost a lot, and it will not last long - 30+ years old electronic, and there are components which lifetime is lower than usual computer component lifetime.

You can make your Atari ST work with your current LG monitor via VGA, only in monochrome mode. What is probably not what you want, but is good for testing it, and can even run some games. Needs only proper cable.
