figgler
I think my Astroblast might be glitched or something. When I put it on it looks fine but when you play, you can't move, just shoot by pressing left. This being my first go around with Astroblast, I wonder: is the game supposed to be like this? Surely not. So I clean the cartridge, Same thing - weird shooting and no moving. Am I just missing something? Is this common, or is it Astroblast specific? Does this ever happen to you? Do you think it could be a compatibility problem with my Gemini?
Room 34
Are you using those weird combo Gemini controllers? That could be the issue. Astroblast was (somehow) programmed to use either the joystick or the paddles. (I think paddles are best!) I wonder if, because of this, the combo controllers are basically "confusing" the game. Try a regular dedicated joystick or paddle, if you have them available.
figgler
Indeed. I am using the combo controller. I don't have a real Atari one to try it, but I'll bet you're right
JB
Left is fire on paddle 2, as I recall. So AstroBlast is likely unplayable with a Gemini stick regardless.

figgler
I think Blackjack is the same, not exactly compatible. I can still play it with the controllers, they are just really weird - use the paddle to adjust your bet and press right to get the dealer to hit you, etc

Right on the joystick is the same line as paddle 1 fire. Left on the joystick is paddle 2 fire. ALL paddle games work like that with Gemini controllers. ... It makes for an interesting Canyon Bomber. figgler
That just sucks. What's the point of the dual controller then? Is eBay probably my best source fro some real paddles?

Or you can ask in the marketplace forum, I know I have a crapload of paddles hanging around.
JB
That just sucks. What's the point of the dual controller then? To be fair, a lot of paddle games don't really require much fire button usage. Though the 1-player only aspect hurts. Bad.
