sku_u
The computer opponent in Activision's Tennis drives me crazy every time. I think I've beaten the computer two or three times tops.
Godzilla
atari's realsports tennis has quite an ace of an opponent on the higher difficulties.

Godzilla
yea i have to agree, fishing derby is hard as hell. sure seems like the computer fisherman cheats his fucking ass off.
sku_u
the trick to beating the computter in Fishing Derby, that works for me almost every time is to go for the mid-range fish and short fish. Don't go for the deep fish unless you are really far behind.
Godzilla
yea thats the only way i ever even come to competing with the computer in FD is grabbing the surface fish asap. Of course the shark seems to really like my side of the screen a LOT more than the computers, in addition to the super cheaterly ways of the opponent fisherman himself... Shannon
agreed, very nasty, fast, and smart. i love the rhythm they make the player get into. thats one thing that i think is interesting, certain 2600 games require the player to get into a certain rhythm to survive, space master x7 does too, and so do many others. (even the generally reviled firefly, which I actually like for just this reason,) A more modern phrase would be "in the zone"...
Godzilla
no, its different, very different. Kaboom, and others definately get total zonage, but rhythmic gaming is very different from being in the zone. heck i dont need any zonage at all for rhytmic games. Shannon
Yeah you got a point... maybe "zoned out" would be a better phrase. But I know what you mean about kaboom.... when I first played it I thought it was too tough, then I saw my cousin doing real good with it. So I was determined to master it. Actually got really good at it. This was the 8-bit version with the music.
