ParanoidLittleMan
Karateka was big hit on 8 bit machines. ST conversion not so big. I think that controls could be done better, and little faster would be good too. Graphic and animation are well done. So, worth little time to make hard disk adaptation and better floppy version (Bladerunner and Aut. releases are overpacked and starting slow). There is no image of original, and it would be good to have one. Because I'm not sure that in cracks everything is OK. When credits start to scroll after title screen, there is some noise, what could be wind, or corrupted DAC file of game. So, if someone can supply other crack than 2 mentioned, or better some STX, SCP image of original it would be great, and future generations will remember your contribution ? Floppy v. : http://atari.8bitchip.info/ASTGA/K/karateka.php Hard disk v. : http://atari.8bitchip.info/SCRSH/karateka.html There is trainer opt. , and that was really hard case - weirdly solved health countdown.
ChrisM
Controls and speed were always the main problem with that game, hell with so many games of that era. Tight, easy/intuitive controls are so important and it seems like they were overlooked over and over and over again. Absolutely gorgeous game at the time, though! tjlazer
I have this one in my collection . I also think I might have the original game, will see if I can find it and image it for you. Karateka (1988)(Br0derbund).st
ParanoidLittleMan
Thank you tjlazer. I compared files, and they match. So, it is really wind sound, it seems. There is some SCORES.DAT in your image, but that's certainly not high score data, and is not called from game exec at all, so probably someone added it as mistake. To be sure about it original game would be nice, and STX image of it - that will go to atarimania too
