Omega-TI
2020 was an AMAZING year for the TI, and I have a feeling next year will be even more spectacular. So, what are your plans for the TI in 2021?
tuf
I've got to make space to actually set mine up! I spent lots of time and money on it a couple of years ago, and even re-capped my PEB this year but don't have any space for it!

"TI-PORN" is one of my favorite activities on this site. I really enjoy seeing other people's setups.
dgrissom
For next year, I hope to be a better husband, dad, and smile more. I look forward to next year. Like everyone, I pray it is a good one! I am tired of having to spend all of my time at home! TI 99/4a? Improve and actually use my Raspberry TI-99/4a emulator clone by doing a code rewrite to improve my Teensy keyboard routines. (Not working as well since upgrading to a Pi 4). Finally, I want to enjoy exploring all the wonderful software available to us lovingly coded over they years by our passionate user base. Lately, I've been playing Christmas carols on my TI console every morning. Lots of wonderful memories! ? Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year to all of you! +jedimatt42
Get to Force Command 2.0 with the API documented. Take up Forth again. Write a game. Finish a personal hardware project I started prototyping back in 2017.
jrhodes
Play The Legend of Tilda. That's literally my only TI goal for 2021. ?
GDMike
Hope to be in the will of a rich dying millionaire. ? besides that, ahh, just the usual stuff, getting SNP disk access; because rt now it's ♿ crippled. Then hopefully I'll start to learn more about my geneve that Chris fixed. Yup ?
pixelpedant
So far, only one: design an allophone speech song composition and playback utility which is easy and fun to use and an all around improvement on the ones on the TI Sings disk.

Retrospect
Make a simple platform game written in XB and compiled. I've done run and jump games they're easy enough, but to have platforms involved is an added complexity that I wouldn't mind mastering.
jstimson
Maybe actually finish off a game I've been working on for (ahem) 36 years now? I had posted my first real updates to it here (see link) in 2014. I had done more work on it since then but life got in the way. My next "real" work on it is to get working on a compiled version of it.
digdugnate
probably pull mine back out of the closet and setup somewhere. currently my TI desk has the bedroom TV, a Switch dock, and sometimes the XBox when I'm hanging out with Mrs Digdug.

+Vorticon
I generally average one project a year for the TI, but 2020 was a bust on that front. I got stuck on Phoenix Chess but it's nowhere near completion, if ever. I'm toying with the idea of picking up Ultimate Planet again, but it's going to be painful to re-acquaint myself with the code since it's 100% assembly and huge...
unhuman
I have a 2/3 done game that's been sitting for a while and another idea... Hopefully I can make it back into the fray. I'm building a shed right now, so that's all my free time... Hopefully that wraps up in Q1. -H
Airshack
Program the TI-99/4A's first joystick controlled single-player American Football game with the working title: MADDEN '79. 3
Nelno
I've been wondering... has anyone tried to fabricate a replacement stainless steel exterior for the TI-99/4A? I have two 99/4A's and my original one is missing the lower metal exterior piece. I have no idea what happened to this. I seem to remember it was slightly bent and was always coming up and getting in the way so I just removed it. I was probably < 12 years old then and didn't care what happened to it. It seems to me these could be fabricated from some sheet metal and a form, though I have no actual experience doing that. Another option would be creating entirely new pieces from plastic, sort of like the custom XBox 360 face plates you used to be able to buy, to customize your 99. Also considering getting back into TI-99/4A assembly programming and making a game. I spent 18 years in the AAA video game industry and there's an argument to be made that I owe my career to my TI-99/4A. I could never afford the expansion bus when I was younger, so my only option then was the mini-memory, which had some pretty terrible limitations, iirc. Edited December 21, 2020 by Nelno Fixed typo.

I wouldn't be a TI programmer without the Mini Memory. I was already being seduced by the ability to do assembly on the Apple 2s at school and my friend's Atari 800, but my locked down TI was BASIC only. MiniMemory finally let me experience 9900 assembly and made me stay with the TI for many more years. Limited, yeah, it is, but I love it.

It's got a certain charm to it, and in the right hands can actually be quite powerful. Remember the vector-like game I did for the 4K competition? I wrote it entirely using the Mini Memory, including the line by line assembler as I wanted to fully experience what it would have been like to do something like that back in the day. It was really challenging at first, but I quickly got the hang of it. Maybe I should do another one! ?
