Harry Potter
I have a Win10/64 setup with the STEEM emulator and MSA Converter and want to install Lattice C on the emulator. The manual states that I need to label the install disks created to install the compiler. How do I do that?
tjlazer
Might have to mount a new MSA or ST file, format in STEEM and lablel it, then copy the files from the original MSA to it.
Harry Potter
I am new to the Atari ST. How do I format a disk in an extended format (i.e. 880k)?
tjlazer
You do a custom format and play with the numbers. 880k is not one you can do though. Edited April 17, 2021 by tjlazer
kodak80
I did this and you need to use a blank MSA or ST disk image and in TOS you need to use the disk Format option which will allow you to set a Label on each of the disks before you copy the files to it. The installer checks each disks label to ensure you have the correct disk in the drive as the installation runs. Harry Potter
I have a blank ST disk image that I can use for the purpose. Thank you for the response.
ParanoidLittleMan
Doing format just to change disk label is lame. Plus disk format in Desktop is limited. I made diverse disk utils: http://atari.8bitchip.info/floimgd.php Lower are Atari programs. With DISKIMAG can give new label in seconds, and program gives some useful info about floppy disk. Just click on drive, type in new label and click on that field. Below it is floppy formatting PRG what can much more than Desktop's one. Then some copy SW ..
