Randy
It is a 4 meg, 60 meg hd with a lot of cool software on it so I will copy that and start putting together a CF IDE card in it as a replacement, right now I have an IDE CF holder that came with an Amiga 1200, would that also work on the Falcon? I see a mix of German and US language stuff on this machine, is there US ROM chips like the other Atari computers that I should replace? Would adding memory be a good move? Currently, the Falcon is running some kind of desktop that appears to be called Harlekin, any ideas on that? Would love to get a CT60 but they seem to be hard to find, besides, right now I am enjoying the incredible colors and sharp display as the Falcon is now. Thanks! +SoulBuster
Definitely upgrade the memory. https://www.exxoshost.co.uk/atari/store2/#0086 unit https://www.exxoshost.co.uk/atari/store2/#0091 memory I use one similar to one of these for a hard drive, no adapter is needed. Amazon.com: 32GB KingSpec 2.5-inch PATA/IDE SSD Solid State Disk (MLC Flash) SM2236 Controller: Computers & Accessories As far as desktop, that is all preference. I use Teradesk. Home Page of TeraDesk 4 (eunet.rs) Not sure about the ROMS or the CT60.
ParanoidLittleMan
All it depends from what is target activity. What kind SW plan to run. Considering CF card adapter from Amiga, it will work most likely. Real problem is CF card brand and where to buy. Most of it has problem with write. Explanation timings here: http://atari.8bitchip.info/astideTP.html So, Sandisk is what is recommended. And not some very fast one. End, as is pointed in some recent thread here, be careful with cheap offers - Sandisk cards are most forged.
Randy
Thanks soul and Peter, I have several CF cards, including a transcend and a new 4 gig Sandisk, so that should be good. And the links for the memory is good, thanks!
calimero
Harlekin is not not a desktop (like NeoDesk or TeraDesk) but rather acc (accessories - programs that can be run parallel with other programs). Harlekin is like a Swiss knife for Atari You can find more serious software on http://milan.kovac.cc/atari/software/ btw You should also buy Hard disc driver from Peter (parranoidlittleman)!
