Laser Disc Remote Control

I've read STart Magazine January 1990 article about Laser Disc control:
https://www.atarimagazines.com/startv4n6/laserdisc.html

https://archive.org/details/STart-Magazine-Issue-29/page/n72/mode/2up

I downloaded the program (compiled GFA Basic with source)
https://www.planetemu.net/rom/atari-st-coverdisks/start-magazine-volume-4-issue-06-1990-01-antic-publishing
and it seems very nice.

I don't have a Pioneer LaserDisc nor a connection cable therefore I only tested program's interface.

Has anyone ever tried it?

Do you have to use a simple connection cable or an expensive interface?

I recently got a pioneer laser disk. (LD-V4200) and it has a 15 pin "interface connector". This connector provides rs232 signaling that I guess you can follow the wiring instructions below to make an appropriate computer cable: https://manuals.lddb.com/LD_Players/Pioneer/LD/LD-V8000/Documents/PIB %23150002 - Cable Interface Chart.pdf

I had a couple Laserdisc players from old Dragon's Lair cabs (LD-V1001's) that I used this program for a long time ago. The cable was simple, the hard part now will be finding the 15pin Centronics connector (looks like a Parallel printer cable connector. The end that goes on the printer.) Maybe they are still readily available?
