SomeRandomEskimo
I have this beige TI-99/4a and when I have it plugged in and I turn on it shows static. I have a 5 pin din to RCA adapter and a RF modulator but the forks are ripped off and the on led won't light up. I don't know if the 5 pin din adapter is doing this or the computer. But the seller I bought it from said they connected it to a tv.
HOME AUTOMATION
How to fix this... (click link) P.S. Some of the funniest jokes are true!
HOME AUTOMATION
Looks like a weak signal might be partially to blame... Does your tv set have an "F"(cable) connector? Sometimes there is a switch or a small steel clip that pulls outward then swings over and needs to be pushed into the center of the "F" connector, in order to enable the BALANCED connector(2 screws). +OLD CS1
Seems like a dumb question, but are the modulator and TV set for the same channel?
SomeRandomEskimo
Im sorry if I made this unclear im using a adapter that uses red, white, yellow cables and no I cannot use the modulator.
jrhodes
Try reversing your red and yellow leads? That's what i had to do with the RCA cable that came with my first Ebay-purchased TI. Edited October 7, 2021 by jrhodes

Ah, I was unclear on that. IIRC that LED does not illuminate unless there is a protection problem, which I have no idea what that means. SomeRandomEskimo
I don't have a yellow lead on the adapter or the tv. The tv has white and black instead of red, yellow and white. I thought you said the adapter had red white and yellow? Try the red lead in the video port on the tv, white in the audio. Have you tried in both "in-1" and "in-2" sets of hook ups? 47 minutes ago, SomeRandomEskimo said: I don't have a yellow lead on the adapter or the tv. jrhodes
If you have a multi-meter, you can check the cables pinout and compare with this picture.
DavidC
My RCA cable uses RED for video and WHITE/YELLOW for audio.

I have a case of them, happy to send you 14 for the price of shipping. they are crap btw.. use a composite cable to the video in on your monitor. (black plug) check both your cable plugs with it till you find video if you can't meter the plug yourself
