It definitely could be mapped to SELECT - however, I generally reserve the buttons (START, SELECT, X,Y,A,B and L and R) as mappable to some in-game function (e.g. for Colecovision these can be mapped to keypad buttons or super action controller buttons, etc). 

 

Since Screen Swap is something that is hardly ever done, I decided to keep it on a special set of keys and leave the primary buttons for game use.
