Magafile 30 Issues & Cable

Hi All,

 

Just scored a Megafile 30. It has an issue where sometimes it powers on but the hard drive doesn't startup. If it's turned off, left for a few mins and turned back on it works fine. Would this likely be a hard drive "sticking" or failing, or a power supply issue?

 

Also, anyone know where I can get the pin-out to make a cable to go between the Megafile 30 and my STFM?

I would check the PSU voltages first and hopefully that's the problem.

If not then I would suspect the drive is on it's way out.

 

Attached is a document for the pinout. You need to source 2 x 19 pin D plugs,

I've never managed to source any, maybe someone here knows different.

 

If you do make a cable, make sure it's good quality with shielding.

I have one that has the exact same symptoms.  I haven't looked into it yet.

So it looks like the Atari ST <-> MegaFile cable sis just PIN 1 <-> PIN 1 all the way through to PIN 19 <-> PIN 19 right?
