_The Doctor__
This became the Huey Jones thread I hope you are taking static precaution and don't provide a path for your soldering iron to to damage things. I have watched people plug a monitor and power cable in and think switching off the computer is good enough. But current traveled to the connected monitor and power supply through ground anyway. Their soldering station was not a full ESD protected iron. This now sound like some of the Ram is shot in both banks, the more the traces get stressed the more I worry it won't end well. Please consider checking passive components around the main bank of ram have not been damaged and then check main bank ram chips one at a time. Please take ESD precautions, we don't have high humidity and rainy grey skys all the time like some parts of the world. hueyjones70
My work bench/solder station and my monitor table are 20 feet apart. I have to disconnect everything to do any soldering on the MB. How are the traces being stressed?
hueyjones70
I found my problem. I did continuity checks on the DRAM pins and found a break on each bank. Likely a broken trace. After adding jumper wires to bridge the bad spots there is another 130XE ready to reenter society.
