BraddW
Hello, I am thinking about performing the super video mod for my 800XL. I have soldered many times before, but never onto a microcomputer board. I was just curious as to how delicate these things are, and what is the possibility of me melting something while soldering/desoldering resistors and such to the board. Thanks for any info on this topic. Bradd
Bryan
XL boards are pretty tough. Some XE boards are more fragile and easily damaged. The best thing is to get a manual desoldering pump, and use it to clear the holes before you remove any parts. Just use regular soldering rules when putting new parts in: Use a low wattage iron (15-25W) and apply heat first, then solder second. Remove heat once the solder is flowing. The Super Video mod makes all the difference. It's a real shame the standard output of most XL's is so bad. -Bry
