Bill R Sullivan
My F18A Ti-99/4A USB device has failed. It looks okay and provides a "BEEP" along with the TI title screen, and then an immediate "HONK", but it is necessary to unplug the USB cable in order to use the TI-99/4A keyboard. I'm also aware that it has a second USB port, but is intended for some other purpose, as it has a different connector. Is this the usual failure for this USB device? It is also very difficult for me to open up the TI console to this degree, and then close it back up without messing something else up! +jedimatt42
You mentioned the keyboard, so you must be talking about the TI 99 USB Keys adapter, and not the USB PEB card... or maybe you are using Fred's USB keyboard adapter? I haven't ever heard of any failures of any of the different keyboard adapters. But I have only heard of Shift838 and Arcadeshopper using my adapter design...
+arcadeshopper
Pretty sure he got it from me.. Is there power the teensy? leds on? if so Either there's a failure on the teensy OR it needs to be reflashed you can plug in a micro usb cable into the teensy and use the arduino teensy tool to reflash it.. instructions are here: https://jedimatt42.com/ti99usbkeys.html under loading the firmware.. this will be a good test if the teensy is alive or not as well @9640News try this too Edited June 11, 2022 by arcadeshopper

RetroBill (fdos) make sure your Alpha Lock key is not engaged if using the USB keyboard.

I do believe it is yours, as it has the second USB port that may be able to restore operation, but I don't have the instructions for using it. Of course, as the PC keyboard Caps Lock does the trick for both when it's working!
