jham55
Hey folks just opened the 130xe for the first time. It is powering on with a black screen only. No sounds on the keyboard. The only thing I see looks like power switch adjacent capacitor but that could just be from age. Not sure where to start with this.. ordering new ram? Sikor
You try it vie Monitor or TV? Try both first. I hope you don't use Commodore PSU? If yes - probably your Atari is death Try other PSU (5V only, 1+ A), other monitor cable.
Beeblebrox
@jham55 do you get an led light? If so and you are happy video cable and TV setup is OK, could be bad ram or a dead cpu.

The screen is not black with the RF.. there is color but fuzzy and no picture.

_The Doctor__
the monitor cable might not be correct... color without image is usually chroma without luma, does not sound like a composite cable...

Beeblebrox
I've found this post on this thread below very useful in the past when replacing XL/XE ram chips. I've used Hitachi, Mostek, Samsung and Texas instruments chips from this list, sourced on ebay for relatively low cost. 4164 RAM equivalents: HM4864(A) (Hitachi) µPD4164 (NEC) M5K4164 (Mitsubishi) MK4564 (Mostek) MSM3764 (OKI) MN4164 (Matsushita) KM4164B-15 (Samsung) HYB4164 (Siemens) LH2164 (Sharp) TMM4164(A) (Toshiba) TMS4164 (Texas Instruments) MB8264(A) (Fujitsu) MT4264 (Micron) (DO NOT BUY) MHB4164 (TESLA) KR565RU5 (Russian) from here:
jham55
Ok here is the update after trying a few things. I cleaned a game again and got a picture that was sort of red as I jiggled the rf cable. When I switched the monitor cable for a different one I got this weird color line picture. Please see attached pics.

+DrVenkman
What PSU are you using? If you're using the one indicated below, stop immediately and get a different one.
