Pab
Here's another oddity for the archives. Most people who used PabQwk used version 2.0, which was written in Action! and pretty efficient. This is not that version. This is the original release of version 1, written in compiled Turbo Basic XL. Just something weird for those archivists who insist on saving all the 8-bit software they can, even the bad stuff. PabQwk 1.atr 5
Synthpopalooza
I remember this. I of course wrote QWKsilver back in the day ...
itzmike
And I, of course, used each to connect with FidoNET, RimeNet and the University of N.O. and Tulane (until Tulane got rid of the QWK tosser)

Synthpopalooza
Somewhere in my disks I have a software called 7DMR (7th Doctor's Message Reader) that would automatically log into one of the old WWIV BBS's, do a screen log, disconnect, and then you use the program to parse through the messages, compose replies, then re-log back in and use a script to automatically post your messages to the correct forums. My WWIV nickname was Dr. Who VII back in those days ...
Mathy
Hello guys I also used both (2.0 and QWKsilver), way back when. This might have been when somebody gave me free access to the internet when most people didn't even know internet existed. :-D Sincerely Mathy

My WWIV nickname was Dr. Who VII back in those days ... Funny you should mention that. I did the same thing for PCBoard. A friend who was a member of a user's group that met at the home of one SysOp told me that everyone freaked out at how fast I could type messages. The desire to use it on more systems was what led to PabQwk.
Tillek
I'll have to get the QWK functionality going on SFHQ so that people can start using this again.
