Again it's not a flaw in the product.  It's just impossible because the Genesis doesn't support all necessary signals.

Actually we (I) said earlier in this thread the Japan mk-2000 sms would/should work via the expansion connector. You just need an adapter that goes from expansion connector to export cartridge connector and it should work.  Japan exp port is exactly the same as the export one, and the export one is exact the same pins as the export sms has

 

It's only the mark 3 that doesn't have the right pins at all

Yes. I built one and use it to make an internal Everdrive mod. Here is a guide

If you build one of these I bet it will work. The expansion bus is the exact same for Japanese sms and export sms, and the expansion bus pinout is simply an inverted mirror of the export cartridge pinout.
