DOM stickers on 400/800

Both my 400 and 800 had black & white "DOM" stickers on them.  The 400's was under the cartridge door, the 800's was on the outside as in this photo.

 

What was the purpose of these stickers?  I would guess "Date of Manufacturer" but there's no date.

In your 800's case, someone moved it there after it was likely removed from its position under the cartridge door.  IIRC, 800s generally had them in the right cartridge slot.

 

Unfortunately, I have no idea as to what they represent; this is something I've wondered about for some time as well.  FWIW, I believe that there are a couple of other pieces of hardware that they pop up on, but cannot for the life of me remember which ones they are.

These units were owned by Dom DeLuise during the filming of The Cannonball Run in 1981. Exceedingly rare and worth quite a bit of money.

Seem to recall Atari made special models for dominatrices. Weren't advertised to the general public.
