x6d696168
Hello, I have a Mario Brothers cart that doesn't seem to be listed in the guide. It lists itself as 'Trademark 1983 Nintendo of America Inc - Western Hemisphere, Nintendo Co. Ltd-Other Worldwide Rights' The two Mario brothers I see listed are published by Atari, and the cart scans don't look anything like mine. I can provide better pictures if needed. Thanks

StanJr
"At this time, Atariage does not differentiate between MINOR label variations in its rarity guide. All MAJOR label variations are covered, MAJOR meaning those that deal with a significantly revised or changed label (ie Activision blue). MINOR variations such as copyright date or printing date generally do not vary in rarity much from the standard label." That really should appear in the Rarity Guide FAQ or intro page. I realize this game probably isn't, but its something to consider. I'll have to explore the cart-scan section more thoroughly. Christophero Sly
Are certain releases like this more rare than others, or games with different copyright dates? I realize this game probably isn't, but its something to consider. I'll have to explore the cart-scan section more thoroughly. Thanks In general, I believe the answer is no. Alone, most copyright date differences are simply minor label variants that don't merit independent rarity assessments. However, copyright date differences may accompany other label changes, and some of these other label variations are recognized as worthy of a distinct rarity assignment. For example "Pole Positn". Some minor variations may, in fact, appear less frequently, and hence seem more "rare". But for the majority of the collecting community, these variations simply aren't recognized in any way that affects value. For example, I think that many of the re-release Atari picture labels from 86-88 appear less frequently than the original Atari picture label carts from 81-82. However, the collecting community in general does not make a distinction between the two in any way that substantially affects rarity or value--with the exception of those titles for which the 86-88 release is the only picture label available, Flag Capture, etc. So don't let 'AtariGuide' confuse you.
