I tried several times to beat it without save states but only made it to the end of level 4 (of 6). +Cafeman
Gunbird 2 on DC. Capcom / Psikyo. Beat this short game over and over with several characters like Marion, Alucard, forget names of the others. The endings are somewhat ridiculous! I love all the art. Playing using S Video.

carlsson
Here's the summary for Week 28, running from July 10 - 16. We logged 2381 minutes of eligible play, playing 53 games on a total of 13 systems. Top 10: 1. Solar Fox (Atari 2600) - 320 min. (#2) 2. Sampras Extreme Tennis (PlayStation) - 145 min. 3. Full Quiet (NES/Famicom) - 140 min. 4. Crazy Climber (Atari 2600) - 125 min. 5. Gradius III (SNES) - 105 min. 6. 1942 (NES/Famicom) - 90 min. (#6) 7. Happy Salvage (PlayStation) - 89 min. 8. Indiana Jones in the Lost Kingdom (Commodore 64) - 80 min. (#10) 9. Kaboom! (Atari 2600) - 75 min. 9. Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES) - 75 min. 9. Super Castlevania IV (SNES) - 75 min. Pre-NES top 10: 1. Solar Fox (Atari 2600) - 320 min. (PN#1) 2. Crazy Climber (Atari 2600) - 125 min. 3. Indiana Jones in the Lost Kingdom (Commodore 64) - 80 min. (PN#3) 4. Kaboom! (Atari 2600) - 75 min. (PN#4) 5. Thunderground (Atari 2600) - 45 min. 6. Miner 2049er (Atari 2600) - 40 min. 7. Eggomania (Atari 2600) - 35 min. 8. Mr. Do! (Atari 8-bit) - 22 min. (PN#8) 9. H.E.R.O. (Atari 2600) - 10 min. 10. Mr. Do's Castle (Atari 8-bit) - 2 min. Top 10 systems: 1. Atari 2600 (7 games) - 650 min. (#2) 2. SNES (12 games) - 600 min. (#6) 3. NES/Famicom (17 games) - 539 min. (#1) 4. PlayStation (5 games) - 282 min. 5. Commodore 64 (1 game) - 80 min. (#5) 6. Genesis (2 games) - 70 min. 7. Arcade (2 games) - 35 min. 7. Amiga (1 game) - 35 min. 9. TG-16/PC Engine (1 game) - 25 min. 10. Atari 8-bit (2 games) - 24 min. The Famicom and Sega SG-1000/SC-3000 may have celebrated 40 years this week, but the Atari 2600 is the one to shine, both individually where Solar Fox is way ahead the others, and on the systems list, though with the SNES only 50 min behind. The pre-NES list barely got 10 entries this week, probably due to less gaming in the summer. No changes to the 1000, 5000, 10000 Minute Clubs. 3

I think I need 16 mil or so. I need to turn the game over three times. My concerns are: Sitting on the floor crossed legged for three straight hours at my age is hard. I drink a lot of coffee when I play and the rest room is on a different floor. I need to get the max of seven lives and hopefully will have 1-2 when I return. Otherwise, a piece of cake. 4

Atarian7
I used to drink a lot of soda when I played Kaboom!. I would take a drink every 20,000 points. But I don't drink soda most of the time anymore. I don't even drink water when I'm playing. I sit on my feet with my knees and shins against the floor. It can be tough standing up after playing for over an hour, but sitting that way is the only way to get comfortable.

carlsson
Commodore 64: Barbie - 7 min. Galencia - 7 min. Hover Bovver - 4 min. Micro Hexagon - 23 min. Super Cycle - 7 min. VIC-20: Multitron - 22 min. Skyhawk - 3 min. Slap Dab - 8 min. Snake Pit - 16 min. So yes, in order to ride the hype, I played Barbie for the first time, using a 100% crack from 2019. I was a little disappointed that I didn't end up with the infamous black screen at the end, perhaps that was due to a bad crack, files not found which caused people to review the game in recent years based on that? One theory was that the black screen would represent Ken punching Barbie unconscious because she didn't dress appropriately, but in the few rounds I played, I didn't notice this was a problem. Also I didn't notice any form of scoring for choosing a proper outfit, Barbie simply would go anywhere Ken suggests dressed in whatever she likes to wear. As for the other C64 games, I played half the amount of time on Micro Hexagon sober and the other half while being lightly drunk. No real difference in my score. I also played Super Cycle under the influence of cider and whiskey, and probably would've done better with a different joystick than the Competition Pro on THEC64 (and if I was fully sober). On the VIC-20 side, I improved my personal best on Snake Pit (7520 pts) and beat my older brother's record on Multitron (now 9236 pts) after 38+ years, though emulated because the game expects some registers to be properly aligned which they're not when loading from disk, resulting in joystick malfunction. I spent some time going through the code and memory maps but couldn't pinpoint where it goes bad.

+jgkspsx
Not much for me this week, but one completed game. EDIT: I realized I missed two arcade games that I played significantly so I am slipping them in up front. I don’t think carlsson has registered these yet so hopefully it is not an issue… Arcade: Fire Shark - 20 minutes Hellfire - 75 minutes Didn’t score well so I didn’t photograph them or remember them. Oops! Game Gear: Baku Baku Animal - 15 minutes NES: Airball (2023 release) - 60 minutes Got pretty far in this. Seems a bit buggier than the Retrobit release, I am not sure if this is the same port or not. Definitely seemed easy for Airball but I’m not complaining. I am just glad this great weird game is back up for legitimate sale for NES owners from Retro Room Games. Anguna: Scourge of the Goblin King - 129 minutes Finished the game. Simple and short but a really good time. Yeah Yeah Beebiss II - 55 minutes Drastically improved my score. Fun game but it is missing a little je ne sais quoi.
Skippy B. Coyote
After spending my free time in the evenings smoking a pipe and reading instead of playing video games the past couple months I found myself missing playing games, so this week I finally got back to my old favorite hobby! I dinked around with a few random games for various systems before settling on Alien Trilogy for the original PlayStation, and did a complete playthrough of it on my Retroid Pocket 3+! It was a lot of fun to play again for the first time in several years, and probably my second favorite Alien game; second only to Alien: Isolation. In any case, it was really nice to play some games again this week and I think I'll be back for more next week! Game Boy Kirby's Block Ball - 10 minutes Game Boy Color Star Wars: Yoda Stories - 11 minutes Nintendo 64 Mario Kart 64 - 69 minutes Yoshi's Story - 18 minutes PlayStation Alien Trilogy - 612 minutes Sega Genesis Sonic the Hedgehog 2 - 64 minutes
