carlsson
Thanks, I'll update it later. Actually Flying Shark in international version hasn't been logged before. I also wonder about Power Strike II vs GG Aleste II on the Game Gear. Those have been logged separately before but based on your recent logs, I took the liberty to merge them. It always is a challenge when to keep Japanese and international versions apart and when they're almost identical so they can be merged. It is almost like Japan is a different world. 3

I can confirm that Power Strike II and GG Aleste II are the same exact rom - it detects the region bit to decide which title screen to show.
carlsson
By the way, I just checked that we have Battle Shark, Blue Shark, Card Shark(s), Fire Shark, Flying Shark, Laser Shark(s), Mad Shark, Sewer Shark, Shark Shark, Sky Shark and Tigershark, but so far no Baby Shark. I didn't even find one on Mobygames?! 3

carlsson
Atari 8-bit: Ixion - 8 min. I realized the current HSC round ends next Wednesday, and I won't have any time to play games in the weekday evenings, so a quick round to get onto the scoreboard.
Kurt_Woloch
Here are my times for this past week (November 13th through 19th) on classic systems (I didn't play any modern games this week): Arcade: Alien Invaders - 16 min. Arabian - 18 min. Armored Car - 26 min. Asterix - 11 min. Astrians (Clone of Swarm) - 3 min. Ataque Sideral (Spanish bootleg of UniWar S) - 3 min. Atomic boy - 17 min. Azurian Attack - 43 min. The battle of Atlantis - 15 min. BC.Kid / Bonk's Adventure / Kyukyoku!! PC Genjin - 22 min. I continued to try various arcade games as last week... Alien Invaders is a low resolution clone of Space Invaders... I think it's one of those game that are installed in arcade cabinets just because in Japan cabinets aren't allowed to be sold without a game in them. Arabian is kind of a jump'n'run game where you have to spell "Arabian" by collecting sacks with the letters on them on different types of screens. In armored car, you have to drive to a bank on the far right of the map with fuel stations in between, and the whole map is even huger with several banks in betwen, but already after the first bank, the game gets considerably harder because the cars that follow you trying to ram you get considerably quicker. Asterix is basically a 90's beat-em-up featuring the comic book character Asterix and many attacking Romans. Those are much better drawn than on the Atari 2600 cartridges Asterix and Obelix, but the gameplay doesn't differ that much from other beat-em-ups except for some comical moments being in there like an animation where Asterix swings a Roman in the air before throwing him away. Astrians is a clone of Swarm, which itself is a clone of Galaxian just with other colors and attack patterns. Those seem to have an error in them because unlike in Galaxian, here the velocity registers overflow, resulting in sudden directino changes. What's unique about this version as well is that there's an energy bar going down, forcing you to clear a level within a given time limit. Ataque Sideral (Spanish bootleg of UniWar S) is also a close relative to Galaxian, but not as close as Astrians. You have vastly different enemy formations here and even multiple attack patterns for different enemies. The sounds still sound very muck like Galaxian though. Atomic boy is a game where you walk around a gaming area, trying to reach the goal and neutralize certain things behind doors (I forgot what they were though). Azurian Attack is again based on Galaxian, but the closest thing you get is the sound, the rest of the game has pretty much been newly designed from the ground up. You can move your ship around the whole screen and shoot in all directions here, and there is no formation, just single enemies. The last stage of each round is an asteroid belt though where you first have to make enough rooms to fit into it, then go back down in order to reach a place behind the delimiters surrounding your mothership. The Battle of Atlantis is a slightly weird hack of Galaxian that stays underwater. The bombs have been sped up, probably by running at least that part of the game loop twice per frame, causng the scrolling speed to be inconsistent. k Finally, BC.Kid / Bonk's Adventure / Kyukyoku!! is an arcade version of one of the PC Engine's kller games, which is a jump'n'run in a prehistoric setting.

carlsson
Wikipedia notes that the TV series had ended 2 years before the arcade game was released. That sounds like the licence was too expensive while the franchise was current, or bad planning.

Keir
Week of 11/13/23 - 11/19/23 Laseractive Rocket Coaster - 15 Triad Stone - 30 Total time = 45 minutes Adding a new system to the tracker! Triad Stone is an interesting game that seems like it has potential but like most laserdisc games it's simply a matter of memorizing which buttons to press and timing it right, then repeating it when I inevitably miss one. After a couple dozen attempts it's just tedious. Also, the triad stone itself is apparently just a salt lamp!?!?

Atarian7
I played Solar Fox to 8.5 million last night, but got bored and screwed up. The fun part is clearing Rack 255.
