V-Cool
Hi, I'm looking to move my 800XL do a dedicated HDMI monitor. I want a Sophia 2 but that is going to have to wait until after the chip shortage. I have a Retrotink 2X-Pro I'm thinking of using for now and buying an HDMI monitor that has DVI. I watched a couple of videos about the Sophia 2 and it recommended something with a lower refresh rate. I found one on Best Buy that has a 60HZ refresh rate. Is my thinking solid on this or is there something else I need to do before laying out the cash? Thanks!
Rybags
Most LCD monitors do 60 Hz just fine. I was even surprised to see that practically all mine that I tried (probably 4 or 5) also handled Sophia 2 doing 50 Hz from PAL. The thing to note is that the audio doesn't come over, you have to make other arrangements. Easiest is just take it from the monitor port. +slx
If you‘re looking at TVs as well, make sure there is an analog audio input to feed into. Monitors with speakers probably have it as standard, but with TVs everything analog is close to becoming extinct.
