Shift838
I have been doing some mods to my 800XL and right off the bat I noticed these 4 caps that just looked way too big for the board. I am assuming someone already replaced these or the factory ram out of the right size. I have to replace these so the USB keyboard mod will be able to be hooked up. just wanted to share and see if anyone else came across this? it’s the 4 green ones! Rybags
If you open and zoom in, this pic should show what a factory default looks like. The caps are about the size of the adjacant resistors. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/08/Atari_800XL_board_top_(72RHA_AT8489594_I-474).jpg
Shift838
I'm going to have to order some from Mouser. I do have some radial .047uF 50v caps which are quite a bit smaller than the ones on my board. I can probably use those and should be plenty of clearance for the USB mod. Shift838
found a couple more of these huge caps that need to be replaced, C23 and C17. One is .047uf while the other is .001 uF, which I have both..
reifsnyderb
I've seen those exact capacitors on another 800XL. I suspect they are OE.
