Anyone know why some Rockwell 6502C (SALLY) chips have a "RC" stenciled on the top?

These usually find their way into the 400/800/XL/XE supply line through cannibalizing Atari 5200's.  If they were only used on the 5200 line, what's the reason for the cryptic "RC" prominently added  in the corner near pins 39 and 40?  Does this signify something negative with respect to the XL usage?  Does it signify this was rejected for the home computers, but is OK for the 5200 (my WAG here)?
