chevymad
I have 2 different 1088 systems with CF2 hard drives built in. What I'm not sure of, is if these are functionally the same as Side2 with a different name? If not what are the differences?
+Stephen
Well, the 1088 machines mandate a U1MB. So in the sense that the SIDE2 and the internal adapter you have, when used in conjunction with the U1MB function as a standalone PBI based HDD, yes they are similar. BUT - the Side2 does other things, such as running cart ROMs, SDX, etc. The device in the 1088 will not do this. So - from a HDD solution they are identical. But for the cart emulation side of things, they are not.
chevymad
That's what I figured. But I didn't know if I was just missing out on how to use cart emulation. I just ordered a side 3.1 for my 800xl.. which of course will get used on other atari's as well.
