cx2k
Hoping the experts can help on this one. I've been going through a bunch of disks from a former Atari employee and came upon this one labeled "Discache Tests" (should be Disk Cache Tests??). It consists of 2 small basic programs: MT - which is the Discache Test Program RWTST - seems to poke values into locations 1536-1549 (which seems to be Page 6) and prints the pokes on-screen. I have no idea what these 2 programs do. The discache seems like it should access the disk but doesn't. Anyone up for looking into these? Here's the .atr Thanks, John Diskcache Tests.atr
phaeron
It looks like MT was intended to test a disk cache which was essentially a banked RAM in $D6xx, with $D600-D67F being the access window and $D6FE-FF controlling the bank/sector.
+Nezgar
I recall running the MIOCACHE utility with my ICD MIO. You would leave 32KB of MIORAM unallocated (not used for printer spooler or RAM disk) and this would significantly speed up random IO & directory access to hard disks. Here are a few mentions: I never did have any documentation along with the utility, so I only learned the author from the 1st linked post. Would be great to find any supporting text. These diag tools seem to be a great compliment to go with it though since they sure seem they should have... Maybe by different authors.
