thedocbwarren
I have a MegaSTe with the 1.44 floppy drive buit-in. I would like to use a Gotek drive, however, I'm wanting to not lose the ability to use a floppy drive. I'm not totally fussed replacing the internal but I want to use the 1.44 externally (or vise-versa.) What would I need and any suggestions on doing this? TGB1718
I bought a Goex drive, fits perfectly in my old external floppy drive case and the OLED display fits nicely on top, no need to drill/file anything. I left a "real" floppy drive (not 1.44Mb) inside my STE, I changed the jumpers so the Goex external floppy drive is the boot drive, at some point I will fit a switch so I can select A/B for the drives. Only reason for not fitting a switch before is I didn't really want to drill the STE case.
+remowilliams
As for the internal, the GOEX units are very nice and a Gotek (with a simple mod to move the light) will also fit without case modification.
Ute
If you want to use the Goex or Gotek externally you have a few of choices for the adapter cable: https://www.ebay.com/itm/334756348147?hash=item4df10880f3:g:WakAAOSwDIdj804R&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA0E%2FNQQLq17xw3AVHmlQ2vZ9XZTyN5hzZ4Ju42KSpU8D8M%2Fj%2F%2FiEpMum0ywDhGstKKjTmD2tmhijgsUEGnONAc5BE6WXAtWTP6hlLCGhl0sFoXnDrz2FkZVOhejxooRUfSOsAv%2BrSuHPMnEGkkV6AAShxVrg4d0b5FDGZudJrwz5VmHazDhhMqwl81HTLu8FgyQZousfpVEH5cCKf%2Fwdj9bXREb5TzseP9j%2BVJC9l8mfUNe85cPM4XPs%2B%2F2t7frFXLGdf495KfD18QtkzEIuQv1s%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR7jAuZ-xYg https://www.ebay.com/itm/334841786603?hash=item4df62030eb:g:JvwAAOSwpNlkQkuW&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA0OvZBXYqz3J38cbvAsoQwSgS4ozJNAmO7XOjCsqjdZl1OkTQD%2FhLJzrc4XJwdC5tFW3LBBlIBKcefyKHLtBcXjpCNL3lGlwyLlEspYgH8teWbva%2Fdbon9IykMdhmsYfLz3StEqMzOhgfhRhttPzgoiWspluUhExsfyLUHE3HQx2Nl1GFag1ojDPjEIZbLEpJHeh30sbNFA5NbOKLxwNCL0STZwx4RcZ6uSUu2Y0sqVY8dWJZzW9kEIzFcaDcG1tUjT17GMvol%2B588fiamPuB0tU%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR7jAuZ-xYg https://www.ebay.com/itm/114409935581?hash=item1aa35d12dd:g:oSQAAOSwInxfNphw&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA4PDYRN116Aaq00Biim3ZF1xtyA4bkguLBEIOHq%2FXwQrZCXDR87KXOw1KJ%2BBSdKuQ8rB2s%2BUvwipDClz2GfIZfzotDI%2FQlPX%2FDVNX8eiUevoWVEpOwHjJbEpe%2FkYZM96WHh%2Fx8J8m3TlThxtu%2Bj4dt5dd%2FA4SH1INIWx7Z4d0Jf0Ncx4Sy8B1CuRxrP%2F8TZndlBGLSu1Y67%2FchO8YPJI%2F7t%2BxWEbV1lnR7lVnS97J14VZzZqufBlCpf0zaZPv6jy1tbNdWEVEA32U3hHSfxoo%2Be%2F3544WAqOxewb6Qj%2FfH5KF|tkp%3ABFBMvsC5n7Fi Then you just need an external +5V power supply, I can't remember exactly, but I think 1-2 amps should be enough. I've made both the floppy cable and power supply before, but I don't recommend making the floppy cable since it is a little complex and there are other options available. Here is an older thread with more details: Edit: It looks like the first vendor sells it with a usb power supply cable as well so you can just plug it in to a phone charger and you're good to go. thedocbwarren
Going to try again with a cable as the Indus hack just crashes on startup if it's connected. I still can't figure out how to make images on it that don't register a 304 error.
