Havok69
Is there a way to identify a Mitsumi keyboard on an 800 without cracking it open?
Beeblebrox
Yup, if you can get a torch look through the gap under the keys. If you see either yellow, white or sometimes green plastic squares you don't have a mistsimi. If you can see springs it's a mitsumi. Obviously easiest way is to open the casing as it's obvious as soon as you do. It's only 5 casing screws.

If it turns out to be a Mitsumi, consider yourself lucky as they are the best feeling keyboards for the Atari. Now if and you probably will have to fix the mylar contacts, it is worth the effort. I love my 1200XL mitsumi keyboard and I have 1 x mitsumi 800 keyboard which needs the fix before being reinstated. I've done the mitsumi fix on both the 1200xl and 800 mitsumi manufactured ones as the principle is the same. I do however like the Stackpole and Hi-tek 800 variations. They are super chunky in feel but it's part of the novelty. But yes mitsumi is great to type on.
Havok69
Thanks for the info. Sadly, the deal fell through. I successfully did the conductive paint fix for my 1200XL, so I'm not as leery about getting a Mitsumi keyboard for the 800 now.
