Calling All Atari XEGS Systems

Recommended Posts

I wanted to expand a little on the serial number database on Atari computer systems. Like how Clause did with the 400s and 800s I would like to try and keep track of the Atari XEGS systems and see who has the earliest ones and how many we have in our community.  Keyboard serial numbers and keyboard date codes on the keyboard board are welcomed if you have the info available.  Always welcomed.

Feel free to drop a photo or message of which serial number you have for the XEGS.

Test Link. Let me know if it works for you

You should use the Courier New font for the list; it's easier to line things up, because it's mono-spaced.

Understood. I can't seem to get back in to edit . I'll reach out to atariage and see what they can do to help me.  First time doing a list like this. So learning how to have access to keep updating

Thanks I think ClausB mentioned that to me before I set this up. I didn't think it would lock me out so quickly

I think you've got something like 30 minutes to edit posts by default if you're a non-member of the site. If you're a member, I think you have 30 days. @Albert just sets it up as indefinite in cases like this where it's needed.

You can now edit the first post indefinitely.

Wondering about the date code. Maybe it's hexadecimal? 7A, 7C, 81, 84, etc. Maybe the number of weeks since the XE line started?

I believe the first character is the last number of the year. The second character is the month. So 84 is April 1988.

That might be right. Seems to work with all the numbers so far. The A, B, C would just be hex for 10, 11, 12 -- Oct., Nov., Dec. If we find any with D, E, or F there, then we'll know it's not right.
