atarianer2003
Hi all, my 7800 only show picture in B/W. I've tried it with carts (Mario Bros. Choplifter, Sentinel) and with the built-in "Asteroids"-Game. The PS is non-Atari, it's from a third-party manufacturer. Output: 9V 550mA. Now I've opened the system: The IC Type "VLSI 9029AV 140792 VF2085B CO25718-30" was very warm after 2 minutes. Is this one defective? The board is a Rev.C. Board (ATARI CORP. REV C. C300633-001 - 4290 => Mfg. Date 2. April 1990?!?) On the RF-Modulator is a small sticker with "ARIEL" written. Or can anybody say, what could be wrong with my 7800? +Mitch
Do 2600 games display in color? 550 mA is low for the 7800, it's rated for 1000mA.That could be your problem. Mitch
+-^CrossBow^-
Mitch it right. Get a better Power supply. The 7800 NEEDs that 1amp goodness. If you put a lower amperage on it... they usually do display in black N white or will just scramble like mine usually does.
Classic Pac
I agree get one that is at least 1 amp. What you want to do kill your system? It's like trying to run an NES DC power supply.
ussexplorer
I read the part were you could use an atari 2600 power supply. So I did the 1/8" sterio mod. It seems to work just fine. Color and all... Am I crazy? laters.....

Classic Pac
According to an old game mag from 1984. The 7800 US version was to have Pole Position 2 built-in

Unfortunately it never happened, unless there's a proto for it lurking out there somewhere. (Curt?) Mitch
