SS
Original US releases were somewhere in the neighborhood of 520-530 total. New homebrews, repros, and hacks-on-cart keep pushing the number up, however, if you’re inclined to count them. I don't really know how many non-US exclusives there were. ( PS - Bushie cracks me up everytime! )
Thomas Jentzsch
According to CloneSpy the total number (incl. all released prototypes and PAL originals) of original games is about 520.

ATARIPITBULL
Who knows for sure, just keep on buying all the games you don't have till you can't find anything else to buy then you will know how many there are.

Thomas Jentzsch
counting label variations and prototypes, 860 Everything depends on how you define "different". So if you count even minor variations, I suppose there are more than 1500 different ones then.
Marco
counting label variations and prototypes, 860 Everything depends on how you define "different". So if you count even minor variations, I suppose there are more than 1500 different ones then. If you count label and manufacturer variations, I'm sure there should be some 5,000 Atari 2600 games out there. Cheers, Marco

Rick Weis
If you count label and manufacturer variations, I'm sure there should be some 5,000 Atari 2600 games out there. 5,000 == more than 1,500 100% correct! you get an A+ if you count NTSC,all PAL types, label and manufacturer variations. i would bet it's much more then 5000. good thing i'm not into label and manufacturer variations! Take care, Rick
Video
You could probably change it up somemore if you want to count pirates. A lot of people as I understand don't.
Cassidy Nolen
Grr. Pirates. You know they are everywhere these days.... Ok, that is my stupid post for the week. Cassidy
jahfish
for those who only play atari, there is about 520 games out there! for those who who collect atari there is many many more .... i'd go with marco estimations as i will sooner or later pass the 1500 cartridge mark and i still have so much games on my mind that i am still missing (even within the 520 games list)
rolenta
So far I have 711 individual titles listed in the index of the forthcoming 2nd edition of ABC To The VCS. And I don't include pirates or hacks (except for the Panda and Froggo games) And I'm not done yet!
Keir
I calculated the lowest possible number of cartridges needed to have all official US-released games to be 411. That means no label or manufacturer variations. No pirates, hacks or homebrews. No single-enders that are available on double-enders, and no overlapping of double-enders. No "utility" carts. Even then I'm still only 66% done.
sku_u
According to CloneSpy the total number (incl. all released prototypes and PAL originals) of original games is about 520. Is that only for dumped ROMs?
Thomas Jentzsch
Is that only for dumped ROMs? Yup! And no pirates, hacks or homebrews included. But some games with very different prototypes found are counted twice (or more).
