Epyx 500XJ two-button version joystick does not work with 2600+

I was surprised to find that the main fire button on the Epyx 500XJ two-button joystick does not work at all with the 2600+.

The joystick part works great.  But the main (A) fire button does not work.  There is also a second (B) button but I did not expect that to work at all and of course it does not.  I tried both 2600 and 7800 games.

This same joystick's main (A) button works great on the original 2600 and original 7800.

Anyone else have luck with this one?

That's an SMS only controller. It doesn't work correctly on a real Atari either. I modified mine to have the wiring of the 7800 button scheme because pre-mod it would make my 7800 crash.

Thanks for the info.  I will rewire this for two-button 7800 also as it's an excellent joystick.
